Monaco GP 2022
Monaco served up an interesting race this year. At least the weather and race control were busy making things interesting! Although this race can be a bit boring, I still love the atmosphere and the excitement of Monaco. However, as Max stated, there is almost zero opportunity for overtaking, so strategy is the only real player in this race, and for that Red Bull got it right and Ferrari lost Leclerc the race. Cest la vie, at least he finished the race this year! Hopefully, that means the Monegasque Leclerc curse has been lifted and he can go on to win it next time out!
Congrats to Perez for racing like a champ and celebrating properly, so happy for him to win in Monaco!
An extra shout out to Marcus Ericcson for winning the Indy 500 this weekend too!!
On to the food! Choosing recipes for Monaco seems to be a choice between the two classically Monagasque street foods of Barbajuan or Socca, or expanding the view a bit and looking out to Italy and France. I kept it at least a little local and found a number of dishes popular in Provence.
I picked up a couple of books at the library for inspiration, two in particular by author and cook Patricia Wells: The Provence Cookbook and Patricia Wells at Home in Provence. Both had beautiful recipes from all around the region. I highly recommend checking them out! I am sure I will go back to them for future inspiration for Monaco GPs to come!
For this year’s Monaco Grand Prix we made Sautéed Almond-Stuffed Dates, Rosemary Skewered Potatoes, Tarragon Green Bean Salad, and Onion Caraway Bread Tart
