Russia GP 2021: Apple Sharlotka and a properly good race!
One thing I never look forward to on the F1 Calendar is Russia.
The race is generally boring and the food is hit or miss. This year though… we got two for two! A properly exciting, changeable weather, last-minute mayhem, actually good race, and a delicious recipe.
We were SO so so disappointed for Lando, he was on for the win and it was such a stellar race for him, but the rain is what made qualifying interesting and the race exciting, so when it came in to ruin his day, we couldn’t curse it.
It was a great result for Lewis though, and his 100th win in Formula 1! What a legend.
And can I also just say that Daniil Kvyat would officially invited to join the commentary team anytime if it were up to me! His dry sense of humor and matter of fact-ness were great alongside the pomp and circumstance of the show of F1. All around it was a redeeming weekend for Russia!
This cake was a bit of a revelation too. Super fluffy, moist, and delicious. Simple ingredients, quick prep, and impressive out of the oven. Our house smelled like fall which brought me joy, it was a perfect use of an abundance of apples, and I got to make it with one of my very best friends over FaceTime. During which, might I add, one of us dropped at least one egg, realized we ran out of sugar, tried to whisk to ribbon stage with a hand whisk (don’t do it), and laughed a lot. Couldn’t have had a better baking day.
