McLaren Brownie Recipe
It was my husband’s birthday over the weekend. We celebrated by binge-watching Netflix’s Formula 1: Drive to Survive and making the infamous McLaren brownie recipe.
Thanks to Ted Kravitz for the recommendation, and Absolute Taste for the recipe!
McLaren Brownies
Adapted from Absolute Taste
230g (8 ounces) dark chocolate
6 eggs
450g (2 cups) sugar
2 tsp vanilla
80g (2/3 cup) all-purpose flour
50g (1/2 cup) cocoa powder (sifted)
10g (2 tsp) baking powder (sifted)
200 ml (3/4 cup) vegetable oil
110g ( 1/2 cup) yogurt
1. Pre-heat oven to 325°F.
2. Melt dark chocolate in a double boiler (or a metal bowl over a pot of hot water).
3. In a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer, add eggs, sugar, and vanilla. Whisk until fluffy.
4. Add flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and vegetable oil, mix gently. Then add yogurt, stirring to combine, do not overmix. Lastly, slowly add slightly cooled melted chocolate, mixing to combine.
5. Pour into an 8x8 or 9x11 baking tray lined with parchment paper or sprayed with cooking oil.
6. Place in pre-heated oven and bake for 45-55 minutes. They should be firm around the edges and soft in the middle and reach 195°F when inserted with an instant-read thermometer.
7. Let cool in the pan on a baking rack for at least 15 minutes before trying to remove from the pan. Let cool longer for better texture and easier pan removal.
Enjoy with a few episodes of Drive to Survive!
